How does GatherCastGo work?

GatherCastGo lets nearby iPhone and iPad users share photos and videos directly between their devices.

One person creates a session and other people join using the 9-digit session code or by scanning the QR code shown by the host.

No account or Internet connection is required.

What permissions does GatherCastGo need?

Local Network

Allows GatherCastGo to discover and communicate with nearby devices.

Camera

Used to scan GatherCastGo session QR codes.

Photos

Allows GatherCastGo to save photos and videos you choose to your Photos library.

Do I need an Internet connection?

No. GatherCastGo uses nearby Wi-Fi connectivity to communicate directly between participating devices. Wi-Fi must be enabled on the devices.

How do I join a session?

On the GatherCastGo Home screen, select Join Session. Enter the host's 9-digit session code or scan the host's QR code.

Why can't I find or connect to the host?

• Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on for both devices.
• Make sure GatherCastGo has Local Network permission.
• Make sure the host still has the session open.
• Make sure the host has not enabled Session Lock.
• Stay physically near the host.
• Make sure you are entering the current 9-digit session code.

If necessary, close and reopen GatherCastGo and try again.

What does Session Lock do?

Session Lock prevents new people from joining the session. People who have already joined can remain connected.

How many devices can join a session?

A GatherCastGo session supports one host and up to 8 guest devices, for up to 9 participating devices total.

How large can a transfer be?

You can select up to 500 MB of photos and videos per transfer. Individual videos are also limited to 500 MB. GatherCastGo displays how much of the 500 MB limit you have selected.

Where are received photos and videos stored?

Received media appears in the GatherCastGo session gallery. You can choose which photos and videos you want to save to your Photos library.

Does GatherCastGo upload my photos or videos?

No. GatherCastGo does not use a GatherCastGo cloud server to store your shared photos or videos. Media is transferred directly between participating nearby devices.

Is sharing encrypted?

Yes. GatherCastGo uses encrypted and authenticated transfers between participating devices.

Can I share both photos and videos?

Yes. Photos and videos can be selected and shared together, subject to the 500 MB transfer limit.

What happens when the host ends the session?

The session closes and connected guests are disconnected.
